Travel Nunavut is governed by an elected voluntary* Board of Directors.
Ten Directors are elected to represent the following tourism sectors: (1) Hunting or Fishing, (2) Arts, (3) Cruise, (4) Accommodation, (5) Transportation, (6) Travel trade, (7) Outdoor Adventure, (8) Kivalliq industry, (9) Kitikmeot industry, (10) Qikiqtani industry. Directors are elected for three-year terms and terms are staggered to maintain some Board continuity. The executive of the Board is elected each year at a Board meeting held immediately after the Annual General Meeting. The executive consists of three positions: Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary-Treasurer.
In addition, eight ex-officio positions are reserved for (1) Kivalliq Inuit Association (KIVIA), (2) Kitikmeot Inuit Association (KITIA), (3) Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA), (4) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI), (5) the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC), (6) Parks Canada, Nunavut Field Unit, (7) the Government of Nunavut, Department of Economic Development & Transportation**, and (8) the Government of Nunavut, Department of Environment, Territorial Parks & Special Places.
* In the fall of 2012, Travel Nunavut implemented an electronic voting system for the Board. This gives all members the opportunity to vote for the Board whether they can attend the AGM or not.
** In March of 2012, ED&T decided that it would not have a full-time ex-officio representative on any NGO Board, and now attends meetings only quarterly.
